So Dave created a Facebook page for our lovely pre-departure Adventures and soon to be oh-my-God This Is It adventures - you can find us under Sailing Banyan if you search on Facebook, or you can scroll down this blog page and on the right side find the Facebook icon and click on it, and voila, Like Us again :) aren't we just the cats meow ?

It's a work in progress and we've recently added the boat specs, the story behind the naming, etc... with more to come as time allows.

Last night I was chatting with my nephew and he said "save the trees, no more homework" which made me LOL, and yet, sure enough, on the news this morning there was talk of having IPADs replace textbooks in schools, and then of course, the recent SOPA debate...

All this activity led me to thinking about all this social media business. Googling. Blogging. Flickr. Twitter. Facebooking. And God only knows what else is out there, that ahem, given my prehistoric (aka dinosaur) technological status, are sure enough above and beyond me now.

I do love to write, love words and their flow, love the ideas that thoughts can generate... hence the blogging (could you tell given my penchant to ramble on and on). In my younger days, a journal painstakingly written by hand was kept, today I'm not so sure my penmanship is even legible ! Definite social media bonus : I can write at my leisure, and family and friends (and now even strangers who may one day be friends), can access at their leisure. It's all about the leisure isn't it ?

Am also thinking of starting our very own webpage instead of using Sailblogs.Com - partly to allow my creative side to flow, partly for the added versatility... time will tell on that one.

Please visit us, and if you like, Like Us :) nothing like using social media to keep information about similar adventurers / places / things to do / things not to do in a common thread, and we surely do appreciate hearing from others who have done this, are doing this, are thinking about doing this... you know.

HOWEVER, as nice as it is to be connected, I think it's important to dis-connect every now and then too.

Photo : Last year around this time we were all excited as you know what and getting ready to attend the Miami Boat Show hoping to find THE BOAT that would take us on our adventures. We didn't, but we had fun at the Boat Show and side trips... this is us sitting on the patio deck at a restaurant in Key West, sipping drinks and enjoying a dinner of Mahi Mahi. We did find our lovely Banyan a few mere months later, right in our own backyard, who would'a thunk ?
