Just round the point from Boothbay Harbour (ME) is (of course, a lighthouse or two... but check out the fine print here... something we didn't notice until after we uploaded the pictures and the moment was gone)... we're taking a picture of the lighthouse, and someone on the lighthouse seems to be taking pictures of a couple up on the lighthouse.
anyhow, just round the corner via the Little Sheepscot River (the Abenaki Indians called this area Sagadahoc, "mouth of big river" referring to the Kennebec River.) is Robinhood Cove.
What a sheltered meandering quiet and tranquil passage that was
until we hit the currents !! We were easily being moved along at 8 knots and had it not been anticipated, might've been a little worrisome. A few of ducks were paddling along and resting easy but you can easily see the turbulent waters !!
Sure enough, legend didn't disappoint... Robinhood was definitely here, as was a little sloop called Maid Marion and a street called....
And easily, one of the BEST library exchanges i've seen !
This is how Banyan enjoyed laundry day...
The special Tuesday half price calamari on the deck of the Osprey Restaurant... a healthy portion of fried calamari, resting in a chef's concoction of a Thai coconut sauce, flavoured with cilantro and pickled onion. Hands down... one of the best i've had ! Laundry came out clean too !!
A quick signature later and we received the keys to Robinhood's Marina courtesy car and off we went through Sherwood Forest into Bath. Ok, maybe it wasn't really Sherwood Forest...
Bath is famous for the Bath Iron Works, builder of naval vessels and it all began in early 1700's when Honathan Philbrook and his sons built 2 vessels. Signs posted everywhere prohibited pictures, but I snuck a few anyways. What is this wall famous for ? I had a terrible sense of déjà vu here, but can't for the life of me figure it out ??
Alls "the oracle" told me was that scenes from the movies "Message in a Bottle" and "The Man Without a Face" were filmed here.
Ever get the feeling you're being watched ?
