Now if only Worcestershire Sauce was as easy to say or spell.
Gloucester (just as difficult to say and spell) reads "Glost'a".
And yes, there are t-shirts for sale with GLOSTA written on them. LOL.
Thank goodness there was nothing even remotely close to a perfect storm brewing during our stay, and we enjoyed nothing but blue skies and bright sun as we started our trek into the lovely town of Gloucester yesterday,
where yours truly stumbled upon someone else who also seems to enjoy writing as much as she does,
As we parked our dinghy at the Public Dock, we met our neighbours, the Howarths (ALBA) and made sundowner plans... then chatted with the Harbourmaster for a bit, and then off we went for an explore.
We headed along the (very patriotic) promenade,
stopped at the famous "Man at the Wheel" cenotaph dedicated to the many lives lost at sea,
and located the famous crew that lost their lives during the perfect storm of 1991, upon which the book and movie are based...
Of course we had to visit the original (in the movie, a replica was built across the street as they couldn't close the Crows Nest for filming)...
chatted with some locals over a beer while they showed us the photo album.
All in all a fantastic day spent exploring that included an awesome Lobster Roll at The Tavern. We did lose a towel overboard (question of not enough clothespins and way too much wind) and well, someone dropped by to say "hi" and ask us if we knew a Bill and Teresa who lived in Canada ?!!
Umm, hmm...ya... He also hit our boat with his dinghy and left a rather large black mark all along her side... thankfully with a lot of scrubbing, it came off and there was no damage done. Le Sigh.
Right now though the sun is out (even though the weather forecast nothing but rain), and we're thinking of heading into some WITCHY territory to conjure up some spells... my kind of fun !
