I love Sunday mornings. Well actually, love any mornings. You can sit back for a moment or two and enjoy the time that the stillness brings, the stillness before the rush of activity, thinking ahead of a new day and what adventures it may bring... everything is fresh with the promise of new beginnings.
Yesterday we pulled out of Swans Creek: the first hour was a tad bumpy as we motored down the Bay, as the winds were gusting a good 25 knots and the swell was coming up... great invention that dodger :) certainly kept us dry yesterday !
But things calmed down a bit once we rounded Love Point and we were able to sail up the river, which was just gorgeous. Sort of reminded us of the LeHave river "back home" and well, it's hard to capture the majestic beauty that Mother Nature is... We sat back and watched the birds fly about, the incredible greens of the trees and the pretty houses that dotted the shoreline, and even the fish farms brought their surprises (check out the heron standing oh so still between the stilts) !
i'll lee the pictures do the talking...
Chestertown was having its own little party when we arrived (Washington College was organizing some cardboard races)
and we sat back and enjoyed our porch for the afternoon and as it turns out evening as well. We noticed that
Altair was here already, and
Pandora had arrived way before us, and of course we had followed
Peregrine in. There is a boat from France here, and surprisingly another "Canadian", a cat by the name of "Last Waltz".
The currents and the wind were fighting a war and we were flip-flopping about, Banyan just couldn't decide which way to point, and neither could any of the other boats. We couldn't tell if we had dragged, or if they had, or what so we spent a few anxious hours trying to figure things out... but we settled down enough to enjoye grilled Dijon Lamb Chops, oven roasted thyme potatoes and steamed green beans, while watching the lightning show flicker in the suddenly dark skies in the distance. We were really glad we had taken the precaution of bringing our cushions in as the rains that followed were fast and furious with no mercy. However, this morning, our lovely Banyan is looking quite impressively clean !
Y'all know how I firmly believe in the "thoughts become things" adage and so, just sending a thought your way this morning... make sure you're thinking good ones and enjoy your day, it's ripe full of possibilities, whatever they may be !
