The better part of this morning and till somewhat after lunch was spent "doing stuff". Stuff being the dreaded C word. C as in Chores.
I suppose there's no way around that is there, unless you have a big boat with staff. Unfortunately we don't have, nor do I think we would really want, staff ?
I'd be the type to clean house before I had someone come in to do it for me. Anal, I know. But every now and then it'd be nice, wouldn' it?
So back to life on Banyan.
It was (is) a hot and humid day so far, the kind of lazy hazy days you spend sitting on your front porch, perhaps swinging back and forth on a rickety ole swing, partly shaded by the weeping willow trees, sipping lemonade in tall frosty glasses filled to the brim with ice, and watching the world go by. The kind of day where there's not a ripple on the water and Banyan just kind of sits there, no tension on the mooring ball line, even the birds are being quiet.
Breakfast was some cinnamon raisin toast, with coffee (ever a doubt ?), watching the world go by ...
However there be "stuff" to be done.
Dave needed to give the batteries a good swift kick in the butt, so out came The Noisy Beast (aka generator), power to all went off, and the infernal racket came on.
We figured with all our present neighbours gone out and about, it was the perfect time to make some noise. He did take Banyan One out for a wee bit to circle around, just to see how much racket The Noisy Beast was making, and turns out, it's not too too bad - mostly directly aft which is where the beast currently sits, doing its thing.
I suppose we really shouldn't be too worried about disrupting the peace and quiet that exists in Spa Creek as one of our condominium neighbours is building themselves a deck,
and they were up and at 'em bright and early this morning, saws and things of that sort going. It's like back to that deck, when you're sitting there in the quiet, and the neighbour comes out to mow their lawn. Oh well.
I did the usual domestic stuff. Made the bed, swept and wiped down the floors, shook out the carpets. Cleaned the Heads. Wiped down the counters. Put some dishes away. The usual ho-hum humdrum domestic goddess type of stuff.
Then I got all energetic and polished the plastic windows of our dodger so they're nice and shiny, salt-free and streak-free once again.
That's a definite item crossed off our TO DO list.
See - clear view through the looking glass :)
Then got even more energetic and metal polished all the stanchions and metal work I could find.
That's another definite item crossed off our TO DO list.
And then decided that THAT was plenty enough of being all energetic like.
Basically because I was getting kind of hungry.
And noticed that the clock read somewhat past noon and then my tummy really rumbled and grumbled. Funny how our mental minds are sometimes fixated on timings and schedules? Had I not known it was noon, how long would it have been till I was really hungry ??
Lunch break was some tuna melts and orange juice in tall frosty ice lined glasses (sorry no lemonade) !
We were hoping to give Banyan One a scrubbing as well, but kind of ran out of time. Or energy. Well both really... so we parked her at the dinghy dock (there's one at the end of most streets here in Annapolis - what a cool feature) and with our Peregrine friends, waited for Enterprise to pick us up.
With the rental car, we got ourselves to the Pennsylvania Dutch Farmer's Market. Much more commercial than I had expected . Lots of fine cheeses, lots of fruit and veggies, and picked up some succulent ribs to have for supper. David and Libby brought the deliciously marinaded corn and I had prepped some Ceasar's salad. Dessert was Sweet Potato Pie ! And did I mention, we had Okra chips as an appetizer ? Delicious little green things they are... Both were new to us, and we both agreed we kind of liked the sweet potato pie better than pumpkin pie !! Who knew ?
My piece de resistance was picking up a Walnut Roll... my mom used to make those for Christmas - walnut rolls, poppy seed rolls, coconut rolls. Such delicious memories :)
Banyan's on-going motto - do something and try something new every day !
