After all the work on Banyan was said and done, it was time for a weekend of some fun as someone was celebrating a birthday !
The Air and Space museum had us marvelling at this:
How 3 people not only fit inside this capsule, but worked in this, side by side, is beyond me, but I guess that, after having walked on the Moon, anything is possible !
Amazing how far technology has come, ain't it ? I don't know if I would've wanted to be the first person to lift the throttle on the stick back in the time of Amelia Earhart and lift those wings into the air, but oh, give me one of these...
and I would've raced to the front of the line to be the first person to enlist.
We walked the great expanse that time forgot known as Virginia Beach.
And look who we found !
We toured the very historically colonial towns of Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. I truly wish that, as a youngster, I had listened to my history teacher and studied for the sake of knowledge, and not just to pass the exam...
I surrender, I now know what I really do not know, but wish I knew... And there's so much to know !
We toured the Williamsburg Winery, checked out their barrels and gave the solemn nod of approval after sniffing and swirling,
We prefer our wines red however, we did have us a sample of some exquisite white wines along with their reds as well as a wonderfully surprising dessert wine.
The most intriguing of the whole plot was that when they excavated the land to build the winery, they found the skeleton of a very, very tall man (6'4" tall) back in times when men averaged a hight of 5'5".
Interestingly enough after analyzing the remains of this young man were returned and he was re-buried somewhere in an unmarked and undisclosed location.
The Olive Garden finished the day off perfectly, as did the surprise arrival of a bunch of beautiful flowers my kids sent me all the way from "back home".
Another year younger and another year wiser. Life Is Good. May it continue to be so, no matter the age we feel we are.
