Betch'a you can't lift just one !

18 November 2012 | St-Augustine, Fl
Alex, cold and blustery and windy
Do you know what happens when you lift one cushion ?
Yes "ONE".
One cushion, and only one ?

Well, you know you don't stop at just one.
THAT should've been a forewarning in of itself.

I forget what exactly it was that we were looking for.
But I swear to you, and all the Heavens above,
that all we did was lift just ONE cushion.
And we didn't find what we were looking for.

And then I swear to you, and all the Heavens above,
that I don't know why we decided we needed to lift the floorboard.
But lift the floorboard we did.

And then look what happened.

Lordy Lou !!

And then you know what happens when you're plugged into a marina.
With freely running water ?

Which, when you live life on a boat,
means you can run the water for as long as you like.
Well, there is a limit.
The tanks would run dry if you ran it too long.

But there's a solution to that,
you simply go and fill them up again.

And you could run them dry again.
When you take a really long shower.
But I don't know any people who would do things like that.

So we got out the bucket.
And got out the bleach.
And the oversized big blue rubber gloves.

And then look,

Miracles of miracle happened.
Things that were all dark and black and grimy and dirty,
were now shiny and white and clean again.

So see what happens when you just lift one cushion?
And then one floorboard ?

Except, of course, you know we didn't stop at one.
We did them all.

From one end of the hallway to the other.
Now, admittedly our hallway isn't that big.
But it was a BIG, dirty, grimy, ICKY job !!

And then the sun came out and the winds stopped howling !
Nice. So we went for a walk.
But not before we put everything back in its place.

And figured that we would go see where this Avis Rent-A-Car agency was.
So we would know where to go tomorrow when we went to pick up our car.

It's a good thing we did, because when we got there.
We found out it was no longer there.
The place was empty, the sign said "CLOSED" and we went "HUH?"
Nice advertising guys !

So the old Avis place was next to the West Marine and the WinDixie store.
So Dave went for a look-see in the West Marine.
And I went for a look-see in WinDixie.

He came out of West Marine with nary-a-thing.
But I bet if he had bought one thing, he would've bought more than one ?
Like the Florida charts we seem to have neglected to buy.

How do we have ALL the chart books for our way down the coast,
and not have Florida?

And I came out of WinDixie with some bananas.
And some Acai juice, and Vitamin C.
And a pretty blue kitchen towel.
Cause I couldn't go and buy just ONE thing.

And we stopped for some white wine at the ABC Liquor store.
Conveniently located just across the Hidden Harbour Marina.

And since you know that when you go, you can't just get ONE thing.

So we picked up a box of red as well.
And some smoked gouda cheese.
We love us our smoked gouda cheese.
Funny that we found it at the liquor store.

What a great selection of items at the ABC store.
We still marvel at the low, low prices of things,
being Canadian and all.

And when we got back, we opened our door, and it smelled like clean.
But sort of like bleach clean.
Like eye watering too much bleach OMG my nose smarts.
So we opened all the windows, let the air flow, and filled up our water tanks.
Cause they seemed to be kind of empty.

And I made Flounder for supper.
We've never had Flounder before.

I dipped the fillets into some milk, and Roasted Garlic & Butter Fish Crisp,
and then for good measure, dipped them again,
(that's called Double Dipping).

And pan fried them on high heat, turning them over at just the right time.
Before they got too brown and overdone,
('cause things aren't good when they're too brown and overdone).

Served them up with some mashed potato and cauliflower,
(and some green peas). Yummy.

I didn't tell Dave there was cauliflower in his mashed potatoes.
Or he'd'a had a conniption.

I did tell him we were having Flounder though.
He kind of quirked his eyebrow at that.
However, we both agreed it was a delicious fishes dish.

Then he figured out there was cauliflower in his mashed potatoes.
And I kind of quirked my eyebrow at that.
Tit for tat.

And then we had some sea salt and vinegar chips.
And we didn't stop at just one. of those either.
We finished the bag ! Damn right !

It's great to live on the edge, ain't it ?
That's all folks.
