Alex, hot, humid, sunny and raining. All week.
So, other than throw the computer overboard, what do you do when the WiFi connection really sucks and you can't blog or do much of anything internet related without the Wirie flashing a blinking red "
disconnected" notice and you lose your train of thought or the paragraph you just typed for the gazillionth time?? You try not to scream and pout !!
Instead, you spend the mornings noodling for some exercise, and Glenn rose to the challenge and decided to join us for some fun in the water. Dave was busy with the repair guy but we think that that was "just a line", and we told him that he was doing double duty next time !
The other morning we were warming up with our habitual routine of paddling into the current, and we waved to the captain of a nearby boat, who was sitting in his dinghy doing some sort of related task and watching us swim by with some amusement.
One of the ladies asked if he wanted to join us?
"Not this time" he replied with a smile.
Undaunted and ever helpful she continued,
"I even have a spare noodle for you"
to which he very quickly and quite seriously replied;
"Thank you, but I don't need one, I happen to have an Instant Noodle".
Just after lunch that always seems to bring high noon heat that leaves you exhausted and sweating as you sit there doing Absolutely Nothing, we've learned it's best to just... take a nap.
And then, in the shade of the late afternoon clouds, we've gone hiking with Lynn and Dalynn/Glenn showing us some nearby trails,
home to seriously thorny bushes (duck Dalynn!!), and then there's the horses, donkeys and random cows,
and Lynn (
Silverheels III) told us how to tell the difference between sheep and goats.
Tails Up are goats, she said, and sheep tails Go Down.
Funny the things you never knew you never knew.
And we make our way along the paths and up the ever rising steepness,
we are exhilarated as we feel ourselves getting stronger and faster. There were some seriously spectacular panoramic views as we whooped our way to the hilltops...
Notice I said hilltop? These are "barely hills" and not mountains as we've been incorrectly identifying them. Our huffing and puffing and screaming muscles of our sweating bodies as we make our way up these barely hill hills are definitely not yet qualified for hiking mountains.
We've helped clean up the volleyball court,
Let the games begin !!
We enjoyed a fantastic evening at the 2 for 1 Pizza nights, at Prickly Bay Marina,
where we met some long time Banyan readers and fellow Canadians, hello Jack and Donna (
Kathrian)
This blogging thing is funny... We've had lots of fun meeting fellow bloggers whose adventures we'd been following for years with inspired interest. That night, the tides were turned and it felt absolutely great for it to happen to us... Incredibly Awesome !!
And well all that sounds like we're having way too much fun, so it goes without saying that we were also starting to organize our upcoming workload and prep the boat for our absence. Things like the BBQ and grills got a good cleaning,
and inside jobs involved the likes of sorting our fleece sweaters and flannel pj's (remnants of very cold Nova Scotia nights) out of our daily use closets, freeing up lots of real estate space. In 40 feet of space, every inch counts, right?
And if that wasn't enough of morning and afternoon type of fun, we spent the evenings learning how to play Wizard, Mexican Train Dominos, and trying to dazzle everyone with magic tricks,
that involved us tying up Wendy and Doug (
Nahanni River), after all, it was their Wedding Anniversary!!
While it's great to be connected to WiFi and news and fun and stuff online, not to mention instant sharing of our adventures, one thing's for sure...
... We missed y'all!!
