Waking up to hefty winds, predicted to blow a stink for another week or so...
"Will they ever stop, don't they know that Christmas is OVER?" I complained to Dave, who just smiled.
So that nixed our plans of going to Green Island, however, nothing prevents us from heading the other way, presumably in the protection of the lee of the land, right?
"It's Cain's birthday..." mentioned April, as she said our two favourite words...
Beach and BBQ so we knew just what we had to do. It was time to Crash a Party !!
And so with all last minute items done (marina bill paid, laundry picked up, and gasoline purchased) we cast off our mooring ball lines, headed out of Jolly Harbour, and turned right.
The jib came out and we were happily sailing along but as we hit the open expanse of land the winds were indeed blowing a very gusty stink !! It was a bit of a bounce and heel before we managed to get ourselves righted again.
Now, with only half a jib out, we glided along at a much more comfortable pace, and not even an hour later, 6 nm to be precise, we glided into Deep Bay, where Quinn was happily barking his greeting at us.
With the pot-luck dish prepped (the flavours of a broccoli salad melding together in the fridge) it was time for a wee bit of a nap, before we all met on the beach for some noodlin'time.
Surprisingly it was also Janice's (
SV Sailacous) birthday and it was nice to meet
Out of Africa again.
The BBQ came on, and the delicious dishes we had all brought ready to be shared.
The record keepers (IMHO) were the Stuffed JalapeƱo Poppers made by Izzy (
MV Izzy R), the Chocolate Chip Cookies made by April, (
SV Spirit of Argo) and both the Red Lentil Dip and the Rum Cream Liquour, made by the Birthday Girl herself, Janice (
SV Sailacious). Quinn, as always was happy just chasing coconuts along the beachfront.
Beaches, BBQ's,
and Happy Birthday Singsongs as the sun-set. Nice.
