As we were taking a walk in Marigot (St Martin), we noticed tucked in deep behind the fence a boat yard with these tall masts standing at attention, peeking tall over the hedge, waiting to be noticed.
With the amount of vine growth twirling about them, we think they've been here awhile.
We took the time to get some provisions at Simply's (having happily found not only a baguette but some St Marcelin Cheese, which we promptly bought), while our laundry was getting washed/dried/folded at Shrimpy's. And bonus, Dave bought a Shrimpy T-Shirt which would allow us, on any future visits, to have access to their free WiFi.
Except for the fact that our plans had us leaving... so the T-Shirt will have to remain (unworn) in the closet for future WiFi Usage.
What seems like almost an eternity ago and most certainly a lifetime ago, in another country and at the start of our adventures, back on the ICW of the good ole U.S. of A, our journey had us bumping into fellow cruisers, David and Libby, with the best dog ever, Bacon Eating Brody, (SV Peregrine).
We enjoyed much time and adventures together and sadly our lives had us parting ways. You know where this is going don't you?
So who do we see dinghying OUT of the Lagoon as we're heading INTO the Lagoon, but Dave and Libby, with loveable Brody sitting on their lap. Whoop-whoops and cries of tears and joy and hugs that almost had us falling into the water must have, without a doubt, led passer-by's to question our sanity, but really, who cares?
We chatted what felt like forever but had to once again part ways as they had a boat repair appointment to get back to, and we had plans that had us leaving for Grand Case. Lo and behold, this worked out perfectly as they were taking the bus there that very evening - It was going to be an extra special reunion at Les Mardis de Grande Case.
Back on
Banyan we weighed anchor, and given the clarity of the water Dave could see the anchor come quickly and easily out of the sandy seabed floor.
Look who's looking at us as we sail by.
That evening we made our way to the dinghy dock remembering to bring our anchor with us as the tidal surge quickly has your dinghy going under the warped dock. A few were under there already.
We walked around for a bit enjoying the increasing festive crowds, and pretty soon met up with David and Libby, where this time, we could exchange proper hugs and a few more tears of joy. We talked as we walked, and walked as we talked, trying to catch ourselves up on well over a year of time, ate ourselves silly over ribs, walked up and down the packed streets some more in search of ice-cream, watched the parade of all of three impressive dancers,
all of which made them late enough to almost miss the bus home, yikes!!
Les Mardis de Grand Case were Grand indeed, on so many heart-felt levels.
