A photo of us heading down the Dominican Coastline
****
We left the lovely town of Portsmouth at 08:15 this morning, jib out, ever hopeful,
but somehow I don't think even the weather itself knew what it was up to.
SV Amoray ahead of us,
the mountains that rose up from the coastline were lush and enveloped with so many colours of green that I think even Crayola Crayons would have a hard time keeping up with.
More coastline,
Somewhere along the way I read that the
smallest hill in Dominica rises to meet the sky at somewhere near 2000 feet. The other day we had hiked 1000 feet (Le Chameau, Les Saintes, Guadeloupe).
SV Amoray still ahead of us,
and oh look, looks like the weather decided it would send us some rain down the mountain-sides.
Indeed, time to run below and close the hatches,
See? Just enough to wash the salties away.
The Capt'N checking things out as the sun came out to dry life up.
Looks like some serious mining,
some interesting buildings,
a fisherman enjoying the quiet of morning
And not even three hours later we're approaching Roseau, the capital of Dominica. The capital used to be Portsmouth, but due to a malaria outbreak back in the 1700's, it got moved down island to where it is today.
Look what someone spotted that prompted quite the Happy Dance!!
Desmond (assistant to SeaCat), whom we had reservations with, came out to greet us and help us with the mooring ball,
and now to plan some serious Provisions and some just as serious Adventuring.
