Just one of the many idyllic & magical, not to mention picture perfect, crystal clear water passages you might ever find yourself in.
Brought to you by Banyan currently in the Bahamas.
****
We've been Basking in the Bahamas for the last month.
Could you tell it's left us kind of breathless, and sort of rather speechless, as there's not been one single post about any of our recent Adventurings?
However, for our Facebook Friends, there's been more than enough photos posted, right?
It's amazing how, having been here just four seasons ago, our brain knew, and yet somehow also simultaneously forgot, just how picture perfect this place is. How crystal clear the waters are. How beautiful it all is. In its very own way, of course.
We've sat on Banyan's bow, first on the port side and then clambering over to the starboard side, incredulously seeing and yet almost disbelieving, the rippled formations on the sandy seabed, almost as if we could reach down and with our fingers create a swirly CurlyQue to add to the design.
And then remember we're anchored in only seven feet of water and our fingers won't quite reach.
We've stood on our bow following our anchor chain and counted the links until they disappeared in the shallowness of nothing but miles and miles of seabed sands.
We're reverted to studying the charts and reading the Active Captain Reviews, wondering if our 6'4" draft will allow us in, or allow us to leave, at moment's desire. And the answer? Probably not. Our passages are now being timed to high tide, slack water especially at the cuts, please and thank you.
And although (at times) we miss the last three seasons of lush majestic 50 shades of green mountainous ranges that rise out of the waters in the Eastern Caribbean, we are thoroughly enjoying and re-experiencing the uniqueness that are the low laying jagged rock formations of the Bahamas.
and instead clamber up not so high sand dunes,
for a different type of not-so-sweaty workout,
All the while remembering to yell OnOn !!
We were thrilled when we found out my sister and brother-in-law were coming to visit,
and with them created some amazing Bahamian memories.
Unforgettable Snorkelling Experiences in every single place we've visited,
each anchorage surpassing the vistas of the one before.
And even though, there was yet "another cold Front" barrelling down at us, we were still lucky enough that although much rain was forecast, not one drop fell, and although cold temperatures were forecast, it was still warmer than the snowfalls they've been getting, and although the seas weren't flat calm, we could still swim and snorkel.
We've been feeling like we're on top of the world,
and as the days end, the Bahamian Tradition of Conch Blowing
as the sun sets fill the sounds of the anchorage, and we are lucky enough that the Green Flash shows up here as well,
and when the moon comes out to play,
we are once again reminded at how grateful we are to be part of the Lucky Stars that are here.
