"The Homecoming" a bronze sculpture by Nathan Scott on the picturesque Victoria waterfront, represents the symbolism of our last week perfectly.

One of the aspects of this Adventuring Type of Lifestyle, as I've always commented on, and been challenged with, is being so far away from Family. I just recently read on Facebook (
so it must be true, right?), that one of the most challenging
times of being a parent, is actually
when your kids grow up.
One of our reasons for going West was to visit our son and his partner, who just recently got posted here.
"With our new
MoHo... " said Dave,
"Wait, what on Earth is a
MoHo?" I asked.
Being of military background ourselves, we are well versed and accustomed to Military Speak, where anything and everything is Acronym-ized and Abbreviat-ized.
Dave quickly replied "
Motor Home". Not that we've named our new to us
MoHo, just yet,
"Perhaps a Blog Naming Challenge in the works?" my mind wondered and wandered, as I mused quietly whilst allowing the new word to just roll around.
And so life for the past few days has been spent reunion-izing here in Victoria (British Columbia). Here's some sights and sounds, that hopefully evoke a sense of what we've recently seen.
With our
MoHo parked on one of the MV Spirit of British Columbia decks, for roughly $120 (that would be Canadian dollars !!!) for our 25 feet of size, we enjoyed the crossing from Tsawwassen (Vancouver) to Swartz Bay (Victoria), a beautiful passage of roughly 1 1/2 hours, that allowed us to inhale the scents and feel the motion of the ocean once again.
We've hiked the Galloping Goose trail, part of the 55 km rail trail (and part of the Trans Canada Trail), where we've officially inaugurated ourselves as Tree Huggers,
where we spotted the very quiet Barred Owl watching us (a first-time owl sighting for us both), as the sounds of the other birdspeak could be heard all around us, almost drowned out by the cascading waterfalls.
We explored and adventured, almost overtowered by the HighRise Douglas Firs.
with nature around us revealing some colourful hidden gems along the way.
A walk through Chinatown
even had the phone booths cooperating,
with the downtown core so vibrant and beautiful
This one last item we found, dangling on the great Douglas Fir Forest branches, sort of describes our Homecoming Adventurings perfectly.
