04/09/2013, WorldWideWeb

I met Dave & Eileen from FAFB when they were on a working holiday on our lovely little island. Being the cheecky bugger that I am I couldn't resist getting a pic of Dave and adding to my blog. Dave has since then added my humble blog in his site index. Not to be beaten I'm adding his to the header 2nd only to my own header.

Byraway it's www.findafishingboat.com

Summer hits Castlebay.

04/09/2013, Castlebay

This was taken this afternoon looking down the linkspan in Castlebay. I appologise for the slight delay in updating this time but the bloody dog chewed up my camera to computer cable and I had to wait for a new one to arive. I didn't stop taking pictures so I've put up all the best of the ones I had in the order taken right up untill today.

Picture of my life
Iain.
03/21/2013, Castlebay

This is a view of my life. In the distant is Vatersay the home of my youth, then there's the sea where I made my fortune and in the forefront is the police station that took away every penny I ever earned.

This is a picture of Domhnall Iain MacIntyres new boat, the Christine Ann. Domhnall Iain is a 14 old lad and is hoping to start fishing with this lovely wee boat in his spare time. It's good to see young lads with an interest in keeping the fishing alive in Barra.

Sheltered Moorings
Iain
03/24/2010, Northbay

This is Northbay's smaller pier. An upgrade has been in progress for some time now for the smaller lobster boats and crabbers. Pictured here are Mac Innes Brothers constructing a breakwater and creating a sheltered lagoon for the smaller boats to seek refuge in from the devastating Easterly gales that winter bring along.

Allan MacLeod

Pictured here is Allan MacLeod. Allan is the chief coffee/teasmaid at the local support meetings held twice weekly in Barra. Meetings which are open to anyone that requires help or support are at 11am -1pm on Mondays and 6pm-9pm on Fridays. Are you trying to give up smoking or drinking, are you depressed or if you just need a friend to have a coffee with or talk to come along you'll be made welcome

This is the latest addition to the Barra fishing fleet. The picture was taken in Lochinver just prior to setting sail for Barra. The Aquarius is set up for twin rigging for prawns. I believe that at 66 feet it's the second biggest boat in the Barra fleet beaten only by the Prowess.
