MacNeil Clan Ceilidh
Iain
08/10/2007, Barra

The MacNeil Clan's family ceilidh was a roaring success once again> There was a lot of local talent combined with professional talent from around the globe.
Pictured here are 3 generations of my visiting cousins from Glasgow enjoying the Ceilidh. In order of age is Nan the oldest her daughter Mairi and her grand-daughter Morven. On the far right is a visiting priest that accompanied them on their holiday.

Australian Model
Iain
07/25/2007, Australia

This gorgeous 21 year old model is a growing fan of my little blog. It was her that prompted me to update it and as I had no photos to do so with she supplied the photo. I've been friends with Sarah Louise for sometime now and as you can see by her beauty she was originally from the UK. She set of to find her fortune at the tender age of 3 and by golly she's blossomed into a beautiful rose.

Eoligarry Jetty
Iain.
07/25/2007, Barra

This is Eoligarry jetty where the Ludag ferry used to run to before Eriskay got their causeway. Now we've bypassed the little jetty for a bigger jetty to accomodate our car ferry between Barra and Eriskay. The bigger jetty is situated in Ardmhor.

This is Kisimul castle, the castle that gives Castlebay it's name. This castle is the strong hold and seat of the chief of the clan MacNeil. It's built on a tiny island engulfing it entirely.

Sarah

I made a brand new friend from the other side of the world. This is Sarah from Australia who is doing my PR on the other side of the globe. I guess my humble little blog is getting famous at long last.

Bike offroading
Iain.
06/20/2007, Bridlington

I aquired a new fan from Bridlington. Craig Suddaby is a keen fisherman like most of the Barra population. He sent a few photos of his two lads doing offroad biking which I had to add to my blog. Although my offroad biking wasn't intentional these lads are wearing helmets that might have kept me out of hospital.

Seamus & Thomas sharing a giggle after helping to land crab & lobster to Johnathan Boyd. These two young lads are keen fishermen and are likely to be Vatersay's fishermen of the future.

Findafishingboat.com
Iain.
06/09/2007, Vatersay

I got a very rare picture here of Dave doing some manuel work. Dave is the creator of www.findafishingboat.com. Dave is pictured here delivering lobster creels to Donald W MacLeod, "shore bosan and owner of the MFV Spray.
Dave if you need free publicity again don't hesitate, I believe in looking after the little sites.

Isabella
Iain.
06/07/2007, Vatersay.

Davy Ruagh's pride and joy (the Isabella) has finally made it back to it's mooring. The Isabella came ashore on the causeway in a wintry gale and was sunk along with another boat.
Sorry about getting the name wrong but it's been corrected now thanks to very useful comment. TA.

Sunset
Iain
05/26/2007, Don't Know

This is the first of two sunset phoyos stolen of Ships Nostalgia website. The next one some of you will be familiar with but I never even checked where this was taken. I just stole this one cause it appealed to my taste of a sunset picture.

>The following selection of photos are of the fishing boats coming into Northbay. The pics were supplied by Micheal a Crutch. My appology a Micheal for the delay in posting your pics but I was indisposed due to liquid refreshments.
If more people would send in photos I would learn to punctually post on here. The True Token pictured here.

Sunday Roast
Iain.
05/09/2007, Barra

Have you ever pictured your Sunday dinner as being cute. Well you can't get much cutier than Iain Aonghais Mhoir's Sunday dinner for 2008. This is a Sufolk breed off spring. They're a very good stock but I prefer them on a plate not crapping in my garden. Each to his own.

Iain.
05/08/2007, Barra

Iain Aonghais Mhoir cracked the answer for the Jenhovah Witnesses. They don't take long catching onto the meaning of (NO) when sent accross the barrel of a rifle. Just a good job I suppose that his eyesight ain't as good as it used to be.

Bummer

Just in case you don't recognise that curveous sexy backside, it belongs to Clair MacNeil. Clair works in one of our local shops. She works in (Dha Applach) at the top of the street in Castlebay. Clair is very shy and doesn't like showing her pretty face to a camera but the view is just as good from behind.

This is David Savoury a fellow photographer. David has taken many spectacular pictures all over Barra but unfortunately he has never considered my blog important enough to post any of them on it. There's an email link in the top right corner David if you ever change your mind.

Creels for the West
Iain.
05/02/2007, Vatersay

The Spray heading westward with another boat load of creels to accomodate our recent growth in the lobster population. It's just a shame that the prices don't rise at the same rate as the lobster population.

Currie cruise
Iain.
05/02/2007, Castlebay

Pictured here is Dan Currie homeward bound after his afternoon cruise. His little cruiser is slighly slower than his son Brian's Flether speed boat. I'm sure Brian will find out as the years pass by the horse power declines with them.

Maiden Voyage
Iain.
05/01/2007, Vatersay

Tom Paterson pictured here returning from his maiden voyage to drop his co-sailors at Vatersay causeway. As you can see from the surface he couldn't really comment on the boats stability. The vessels top speed is still in doubt untill he gets a GPS aboard.

Peeved
Iain.
05/01/2007, Castlebay

This is Bunji's rib, he was slightly peeved that I hadn't included him with the yuppie seamen. He did assure me that he's installed a radio cassette player with stereo speakers so I guess we can add him at the bottom scale of the yuppie seamen's list.

Nutters
Iain.
04/30/2007, Castlebay

As much as I enjoy all this sunshine and good weather there always has to be a down side. On the good side the sun brings out the flowers and gives colour to our countryside, on the downside it takes out of hibernation nutters like my sister Catherine pictured here. F@?k it give me back the rain.
