Back on the water - this time with a mast
11 May 2016 | Saint Vaast La Houge
And so today we finally got back to the water with Barracuda fully masted and everything. Le Havre served its purpose with the best rigger we have known and good provisions. We had planned an early start but the fog was so thick that we could barely see past the end of the boat so we waited until we could at least see a bit further before setting off. The forecast was for the mist to lift but it was still fairly muggy so we did the crossing to Saint Vaast mostly on instruments (radar and AIS) to look out for traffic. It was a very calm day and we had to motor all the way but we did get the main sail up. We arrived into Saint Vaast at sunset when the entry lock gate was closed so anchored off and slept for a couple of hours waiting for the tide to rise and slipped in just after midnight which also saved us a night's mooring fees (you can take the boy out of Scotland but...). A wee dram to celebrate our crossing of Bay de la Seine and then off to bed.
