Ko Lanta
02 December 2017
Awake just after 6 so up to make the crew their tea and coffee. Dropped the mooring at 7 and were soon sailing with a good North Easterly wind. No sooner out of Chalong channel than we had to reef the mainsail as the bow ploughed into the seas. By 10.30 we were back to using the engine as the wind had dropped. It was easy to see which way to go as the ever ending trail of speed boats headed for Phi Phi and as always came far too close to us when passing. It was cloudy and quite pleasant and my two crew continued their sea faring stories and all the people they knew in common. Past the ridiculous busy PhiPhi island and we had the usual lunch of ham, cheese cucumber tomato and crackers with plenty of diluted juice. By mid afternoon we could see the rain clouds approaching and it got rather wet as we anchored off the north west beach on Ko Lanta. Alinkat was moored 30 metres away se we joined them for an afternoon beer. The rain passed and we decided to chance going ashore. We went in at the usual point but there so many ropes holding the boats and extra mooring it was really difficult to make the shore. -I think there were extra lines put out in case of the bad weather forecast a few days ago as most loose lines were at right angles to the way the longtails were moored. We had dinner at a nice beach restaurant then had to go and find a supply of sugar as Alistair takes two spoonful's in every cup I had quickly exhausted my supply of sugar. The tide was now right up the beach it is pitch dark and we have to negotiate all the floating lines. David and Margaret followed closely behind us as Angus lay in the bow trying to spot and catch all the floating lines before they caught our engine. We returned without any problem and by 8.30 my crew were ready to head to their bunks.
