ANGRY MOTHER-NATURE!

18 October 2011 | Club Natico, Cartagena, Colombia

City Lights of Cartagena

hello again from Crap Natico, Cartagena, Colombia....
We are sitting at anchor (had to move two times now) in the worst weather I can remember!!!!!!!! I've never seen rain come down so hard!!!!! The winds have been in the 30-40 or more!!!! Mother-Nature just doesn't want us to have anymore fun on this trip! :(
We were dragging lastnight around 7pm right towards a megayacht, so of course up goes our anchor and powering around the anchorage looking for a spot! It seams every boat in the local 100 miles decided to take a shelter in this bay!

Sorry about the lack of updates, but my NEW satphone antenna broke the other day! ugh!!!!!!! and there is no overhead cover at the "marina" to use the internet... Trying to keep the computer dry and powered up is a MAJOR CHALLENGE here!!!

We have been told the weather is going to suck for the next week and heading to Panama in not advisable until the trade winds come back. Apparently there is a major Low pressure system up in the GOM sucking all our trade winds and giving us a good douching!!!!!!!!!!

I think somebody prayed wayyyyy tooooo much for wind...... :(
cheers from the soggy three amigos

Here's a few shots of prepping the boat for the long ride NORTH to Gig Harbor, Wa. It took about 5 hours to prep and load her up.

Here's a few shots of my 1985 28 foot Bristol Channel Cutter (BCC) built in Vancouver, BC. She's a full keel fiberglass hull with teak and mahogany wood throughout. She's powered by a Volvo 28hp diesel.

I had a great day learning how to sail my BCC. The learning curve was a little steeper than I had anticipated. The day ended pretty crappy... I couldn't get the engine out of gear and I plowed into the back side of a large powerboat in the slip next to me. OUCH!

This was the first day on board Junessa. I looked in every corner on board and climbed to the top of the mast! I had Chinese food and Corona Beer then feel asleep to some beautiful candle light and music.
