HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM ZAMBOANGA, PHILIPPINES!

The Filipino people go C-R-A-Z-Y with fireworks!!! It's a very poor country but they must safe up all year to get the chance to blow stuff up!!!

The fireworks have been going on since Christmas, with added intensity up to the new year! Unlike the US, where we have a viewing spot to watch all the fireworks go up in one location, these folks are blasting 360 degrees around us!!! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! It reminded me of the CNN video of the Gulf War during the night raids on Bagdad... Just crazy!

I hope you all have a better year than last... and can get out on the water!!! If not, you can come along with me via the internet... :)

THE BOAT

Here's a few shots of my 1985 28 foot Bristol Channel Cutter (BCC) built in Vancouver, BC. She's a full keel fiberglass hull with teak and mahogany wood throughout. She's powered by a Volvo 28hp diesel.

First Day Out

I had a great day learning how to sail my BCC. The learning curve was a little steeper than I had anticipated. The day ended pretty crappy... I couldn't get the engine out of gear and I plowed into the back side of a large powerboat in the slip next to me. OUCH!

New Owner

This was the first day on board Junessa. I looked in every corner on board and climbed to the top of the mast! I had Chinese food and Corona Beer then feel asleep to some beautiful candle light and music.
