Hi friends, and welcome everybody!

Hello everyone! Glad to have you check-in to this blog. Our sailboat Mahalo is in Melbourne, FL (we sailed there from Georgia for the Seven Seas Cruising Association Gam, which sadly, we missed), and now we are planning our trip North (destination unconfirmed at the moment) for the summer hurricane season lay-over as of mid-May. Cruising boats and their people's schedules are somewhat dictated by the insurance industry's statistical assumption of "big blows" occurring between June 1st and October 31st. So, as of November 1, we are free to roam the Atlantic and Caribbean. The hope is for a November, 2011 departure from Hampton, VA to Tortola, British Virgin Islands, then spend the winter slowly moving through the West Indies, and make a latitude below the hurricane belt (Grenada, Trinidad/Tobago) by the end of May, 2012. Fingers crossed. These sorts of voyages need lots of variables to agree before becoming conclusive.
