New fishing gear
13 March 2014 | La Playita
We met a nice single hander from Germany. He gave Isobel his rod that he has had since he was 15. He had upgraded his gear... Isobel is thrilled! More on our other gear upgrade later...
Well, some progress in different areas.
Bill is feeling much better now and is ok moving around and doing more than just laying down. Of course laying down for the past few weeks has gotten the encourage completing the IRS tax prep as well as the VT tax prep and some other book work.
The past couple days has seen a new electric panel installed. Bill worked with a German guy who lives here now doing marine electrical trouble shooting and refit work. Things will be more clear, safer and much easier to operate. This was the final bit of electrical work in a complete rewire of the boat… well almost!
Also, we have had two computers that have been failing us. One due to water damage… won’t go into how that happened… and the other had some mystery bug that slowed it down regardless how much time Bill spent on the phone with Applecare… So, we bought a new Samsung cheap PC laptop for our PC based navigation and HF radio program. On this we send and receive emails at sea, receive weather and routing information. Then we bought a new Mac to run all the photos, blog (no excuse now!), bookkeeping and boat inventory.
So, the past two days have been spend getting all the data moved over and getting the two up and running. The Mac is done. The PC is loaded up but won’t recognize the port where the HF radio is plugged in. Great…
