Preparations for another passage
18 August 2014 | Hiva Oa
We came back to this rolly anchorage because there is internet that we can access from the boat. Expensive, about $2 per hour if you buy a block of 100 hours. Same provider is available at different islands...
We plan on leaving tomorrow for Tuamotus... about 500 miles SW. Now this seems like a short passage! We were remembering our first passage from Atlantic Highlands to Cape May.... 100 miles. Yikes, we were wigged out by that. and we sailed 5 miles off the beach the whole way down.
forecast seems to be for wind no more than 15 knots... one problem is that it might go away completely at one point. Of course timing the arrival will be key as we will want to enter an Atoll at slack tide... with the sun above or behind us... We will see about that!
Isobel loves the rat lines I made. These hang on Icicle hitches that can be moved up the shroud so we can go as high as we feel we need to go to see well.
