anchored!

Well, isn't this pleasant! We are at anchor in 12 feet of water, sand. We are back to crystal waters with all the millions of colors of blues in the water and sky. Just east of us 100 yards or less are the little islands of the atoll, called motus. Not far from the boat is a coral head the size of a reasonable living room... we can see the fish swimming around it. Last night after anchoring, we saw a ray swim under the boat. There are pairs birds, which we haven't identified yet, that fly around together. They sound like parots but are white and might be some kind of tern. their white underwing feathers reflect the blue green of the water they fly over. We have 15 knots of wind, out of the NE, which is a little odd, but it has the wind generator making 3 amps, which is a welcome addition to our solar output. What it means to us is lots of fresh water!!
We haven't been in an anchorage this calm since... well, I don't know when... maybe one of the anchorages in Las Perlas Panama over a year ago! All three of us slept deeply last night. For Isobel that is normal, for Lara and I, we have not had great sleep in a while, obviously, at sea, it is truncated and in the Marquesas it was often really rolly or gusty.
There are no other boats here, probably because it is pretty far east still for those who are lingering in French Polynesia. We look forward to getting the dinghy off the boat and doing some exploring later.
