Correction to "wave" blog

I guess I need some to make some corrections to the wave blog... You guys don't allow me any writer's license!
As Gil pointed out, the Billabong surf competition was long over when we came by... so what with the helicopter and all... they are filming a movie down there now!
OK, the waves are only 20'. Well, from the sea, when you are looking at the first pass into land that was available and charted... and written up as an easy one in the guide books... and you look and there are a bunch of boats clearly sitting just seaward of where the waves are breaking... and you see them, then you don't, then you see them, then you don't. You think to your self, "Jimminy Crickets, these are some big waves." And you come in the pass that is used by aircraft carriers and it is impressive... and you think back to that first pass and wonder what it would have been like to approach.
For one, I am quite sure, I would have had to medicate Lara heavily, put some noise canceling head phones on her and play some nice
Indian chants...
Isobel, I am quite sure would have been quite fine, and probably would have been pointing out reef fish or clams that she could see on the reef along side the boat.
Kind of like photos of ski hills, photos of waves don't really show what they look like. I think there is something about the other senses not captured that is missing. When we were coming in our pass, although it was very wide, the waves were still impressive breaking on both sides of us. The sound was part of the impression too... so loud that that you could hear the crash over the sound of the engine. And the spray, which is a diminutive word. When these waves crashed on the reef, some of the water flew into the air to a height 3 times higher than the waves themselves. White foam floated across the pass from the churning water...
Now at anchor, two miles from the waves breaking on the reef, we can still see them rearing up and crashing. When the wind is not turning the wind generator, we can hear the crash... even as we sit in the water, still as a pond.
