The big move...

Isobel is so excited to be moving!
Well it was a move anyway! 12 miles to the north end of the atoll. Our friends on SV Irene gave us some exact way points to navigate the pearl farm buoys. With wind from 6 to 26 knots we had a nice sail flat water sail. We were all excited, and Isobel was the most excited... as she pulled out the tethers and set them up... she then pulled out the harnesses and found that she had been upgraded to a new Spinlock Centro DeckVest. We have upgraded her from her simple West Marine Harness, which has worked quite well, to the Deckvest. They now make a Junior version. The deck vest is more comfortable and easier to get into and out of (think going to the head!) We are all now rigged with MOB-AIS. Even though we always are tethered in when underway, we still want to reduce the possibility of anyone of us being lost at sea. The new MOB AIS unit is built into our Deck Vests. Should someone fall overboard, the vest inflates a PFD. There is a DSC alert which makes an alarm in our boat and any other within radio reach. Then it starts sending out an AIS Signal that we can use our chart plotter or Vesper/iPhones to zero in on. All of a sudden this would give someone a chance, especially if there are any seas running.
So, here we are... we will take a day and complete our preparations for a passage to Tahiti tomorrow... A beautiful spot. Anyone coming here should note the waypoint coordinates and contact me should they need the directions through the atoll! There are twelve waypoints that lead from the North pass to the anchorage, then on to the Apataki Carenage.
