Well, really... we are seeing 72 degrees here with 48 percent humidity. Funny as that used to be the winter temperature we thought was warm in our old house in VT. now, 72 us cold. I just did my deck walk to check on things before dark (anchor chafe protection, clothes pin on deck etc...) I had to quicken the pace back to the cockpit. With 13 to 15 knots of wind, 72 degrees becomes quite cold! Hard to imagine that Cyclone season is coming!
We sit here at Point Venus still thinking of Captain Cook and Captain Wm Bligh. Bligh was here in 1778. He sailed from England in 1776 just a week after the Americans signed the Declaration of Independence. He traveled 27,000 NM to get here, taking two years, averaging about 4 knots of boat speed. And that included spending several months attempting to round Cape Horn... only to fail and turn to sail via Cape of Good Hope, south of Australia, between the two islands of New Zealand and up to Tahiti.
