Along the road we find all sorts of things for sale. Today Lychee fruit. Fresh picked. Often the table is there loaded with Limes, Bananas, a cooler full of Tuna and you pull up in the car and by the time you are at the table, someone appears, always with a big smile and a Tahitian greeting "Ia Orana" (pronounced like "your ona"). This woman was surprised that we wanted her in the photo.
We have had lots of Tahitian lessons here in our Pension. Today's lesson is that 'b' is pronounced 'p', 'l' is pronounced 'r', 'l' is pronounced 'n' or 'r', 's' is pronounced 't'... so we all have new names: Itopera, Nora, Piri. It also appears that they like to end a name in a vowel.
