Honeymoon Cove

15 May 2012 | Isla Danzante
If the name Honeymoon Cove sounds romantic, let me assure you this place lives up to its name. Honeymoon Cove is a three-lobed anchorage in the island of Danzante just a few miles from Escondido. While we've stayed here before, we've always wanted to try out the north lobe (a small, one-boat spot) which seems to us the most picturesque of the three. We lucked out when it was empty this time around.

The water and air temps here have been climbing and it's a pleasure to jump in the crystal clear water for a swim. During our three-day stay, we snorkeled several times and Jeff scored with his speargun, of course. The kayaking was also pretty great.

This photo shows that I'm not exagerating about the beauty of this spot. Jeff snapped this shot while hiking to the top of a nearby peak. I had to be content to stick to kayaking, however. After accidentally stepping into an open hatch in the cabin floor, I broke a toe. That put an end to my hiking for the rest of our season in Baja I'm afraid.

But I'm still enjoying paradise, even if I am limping a bit.
