A walk, some birds and a great little helper

This morning after breakfast, I decided to kayak into the town area, in order to try to get a few pictures of some birds I had spotted while we were on our way to the tienda yesterday. I had a very nice easy kayak to the sandy beach, pulled the kayak up above the high tide line and set out to find some birds. I found the usual cast of characters, the Cactus Wrens, Gray Thrashers, House Sparrows, White Wing Doves, and Hooded Orioles. The new bird for today was the Phainopepla. This is a Flycatcher, about the size of a robin, with a very prominent crest on their heads.
As I wandered around looking for birds, i encountered several locals, mostly adults who really didn't care what I was doing, but I said hello and tried to explain my actions....Hola, Mi Photographica Pajaro (hello I am photographing birds) They all smile, nod nicely and keep wandering along. The kids were a different story. they all want to see the camera, and the pictures I have taken. One little boy was especially helpful pointing out birds to me with great excitement. I thought that I had sufficiently bored him as at one point he just walked away. With in a few minutes he was back!! With a bird for me to take a picture of!! He had gone home and brought me his chicken. He seemed very proud of the bird, so I shot a few pictures and thanked him. He nodded with a huge smile, and headed back home. I have been laughing about it all day!!
