Ok so the photo of the goby has absolutely NOTHING to do with this story... but it's a photo I like!

As of Wednesday this week, we've been staying in a home in La Paz, while the owner vacations in Hawaii. I guess she needed a 'different' beach scene!

This is a test for us, as we've only committed to the 10 days of this vacation. She'll be leaving again for about 3 months, during which we could stay here if we wanted. This is where my pro's and con's list comes in!

The Pro's:
Space: It's nice to have a space to spread out in.... we do manage to do that well, and in such a short period of time. We're sort of like those confetti things, that are all contained in a little space... until the lid is removed... then stand back! I've brought my sewing machine to take advantage of the table for a couple of sewing projects.
Showers closer than a 10 minute walk away...nuff said about that.
Kitchen: Well, I'm taking advantage of a six burner gas stove, full size refer/freezer and lots of counter space
Laundry: A very large, very good washing machine that doesn't take American quarters like at the marina.
Electronic devices: a 42” television, and satellite channels – Tom's into the US Open this weekend; dedicated WI-fi and a electric gate opener!
Air conditioning: in the living room and our bedroom, although we've kept the doors and windows closed as the day heats up and haven't needed the a/c – yet..... got to 100 yesterday and today. It was a bit like walking outside into an oven!
A walk around bed... I'm not having to climb over Tom to get to my side of the bed.

The con's:
Space: I know it's a blessing and a curse. After living on board the boat for almost 14 years now, I know exactly where everything is, usually at my fingertips. We've brought a few things with us, but there's always something that I need that's still at the boat or at the house when we're back at the boat.
The noise: OMG!!! the NOISE!This house is located on a very busy intersection.... all night long we hear zooming cars, trucks and a few buses. We're not sure what we heard, but there was a loud crash and bang at 4:37 last night, sounding very close. We never did see what it was. It got quiet for about an hour, then the traffic started again.
Nearby disco: Yep, somewhere on the malecon, 2 blocks away is a disco that competes with the three restaurants that also play loudly in the truly Mexican style, until very late! The bass reverberates through the cement structure of the building.
We're not on the boat: We like living on the boat. Even though I get frustrated with the stuff that gets shifted from place to place and we're trying not to have our 'office' on the boat, we still like it.
The view: from the boat is definitely better, and we're more in tune to the weather and sunsets!

So, I guess I'll have to do a wrap up after our stay here and let everyone know what we decide to do. The biggest issue is the noise! We may just have to get out to the island of Espiritu Santos. We won't be able to sleep out there because it will be too quiet!
