I think that’s how the count goes…… Anyway, 2 weeks tomorrow this ‘procedure’ was done.
And if all stays according to the plan, on Wednesday I will have the staples removed and a new full leg standing x-ray to determine the new angle and what kind of length was gained.

I have been doing leg lifts, all sides now, and knee bends as I can stand them. I can get to about 60 degrees dragging my heel on the bed. At that point it feels like the staples at he left side of my leg are about to rip out….. the doctor assures me that that won’t happen… yet that’s exactly what it feels like. So at this point that’s as far as I’m going. However, when I sit in the wheel chair and let my leg hang down it seems like about 80 degrees. So, I’ve met all my requirements for needing to go home. When I get there my folks will be there. They arrive tomorrow.

I ice the knee and surrounding areas about 20 minutes of each hour. That’s about how long it takes for the zip lock bag full of ice to melt! We’ve got the maids dialed in. About 9 every morning, she brings a large bag full of ice. That keeps my knee and our goodies chest of juices, yogurts and treats cold for the day, then another bag is delivered in the evening.


Since there’s always been such a difference in my two legs, walking on crutches has never been an issue. Now it is! I found that I was holding my left leg bent at the knee when walking on the crutches. The doc wanted me to ‘step’ with my left, not putting any weight on it, other than just touching down. I realized that my crutches weren’t letting me stand straight enough, so I’ve raised them. Now I can step through as he’s requested, yet I still have the necessary space under my armpit to protect my nerves in there.

Saturday was our 11th anniversary. Kind of a bummer being apart… and it was icky and cloudy out and I didn’t feel like doing much. I had also decided to self ‘ground’ myself, and not go out on any adventures – the Mercado or some other place that I would love to go. Too much risk of someone bumping in to me, or some other mishap occurring. The bright part of the day was the large bouquet of fresh flowers – 3 ‘ tall when placed in our ice bucket on the floor, from Tom. Roses, several colors of gerbera daisies, white and yellow lilies, two colors of alstromeria and some unique fillers. We’re enjoying them here as I don’t think they’ll make the plane ride.

After trying the hotel restaurant for their buffet breakfast yesterday we felt we were running out of food options nearby. Last night we ventured out in a taxi to an Italian restaurant that Gaby chose. We had mediocre food and a good stroll around several levels of the mall looking for a) really bad out fits, b) really good ones and c) good together couples…… gotta do something when you’re not a shopper!


I had a restless night but woke feeling I needed to do something. So after a shower – time consuming – I have now finished this blog… perhaps I’ll do some photography stuff that I brought along…. Or nap………..
