Last night we were at anchor on a small tributary of the Otonabee River about 2 hours before Peterborough.
There was a good breeze to help cool things down from the scorching heat. I have been living in my bathing suit the last few days with many dips in the water to cool down. While at anchor I broke out the 2 person inflatable kayak to try out my new sail. Worked like a charm in one direction.
We caught up to JP and Diane at lock 19, the first lock in Peterborough and there was a couple, Pete and Ida, in a 16 ft aluminum boat camping at the side of the lock. They started the journey in Ottawa on there way to Wawa on Lake Superior. Just goes to show you do not need a big boat to do the canal systems.
The humidex today is an unbearable 40 degrees. When it gets like this we take a dock at a marina and put our little window air conditioner in the companionway. It keeps the whole boat very comfortable and on days like today is worth its weight in gold.
