Arrival in Kuala Lumpur (KL)

10 November 2008 | Kuala Lumpur
Billy Ray / Very Sunny, very nice!
$46.00, (yes USD), 45 minute flight from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur! Fun stuff on approach. Lightning started cracking as we were on approach, when all of a sudden the JetAir pilot hit the gas and "scratched out some rubber" (aborted landing), and up we went. We stayed held for 20 minutes or so, still could not land and so then returned to Singapore. Landed and hung around the airport for about a hour, and took off again. Next landing was uneventful. It was great because I got to see all the sights twice! Ingrid however was white as a sheet.

Kuala Lumpur
Great signage in the airport. Went right through customs, and looked for the express train to KL Sentral. This a hub for trains buses, and taxi's. We took a taxi from there, and stayed at the Swiss Garden Hotel. 4 star that was really a 3!

Next day we walked and shopped, and we ran into a real character. He is Russian, deaf and dumb, and has almost made it around the world by motorcycle. Great big smile, and very proud of his accomplishments. Mike Fletcher, this is for you!

Off to Singapore

17 October 2008 | San Diego to Hong Kong to Singapore
Billy Ray / Very Sunny
United airlines, 527.00 USD one way!
(Less than a trip to Vegas), and what happens here really stays here!

Landed at 12:00 midnight (18 hours later), and preceded by very fast chain smoking Taxi to my hotel. Promptly greeted by prostitutes, who said, (and I believe them),
"I love you"!
So I walked the streets for a hour and then sat down to eat at a sidewalk cafe. Pork fried rice and a large Tiger beer!
BEWARE: In Singapore you can not get napkins while you are eating or after using the restroom. If by chance you do get a napkin, it is really what we call facial tissue, and of course promply falls apart if you use it.
Walked the prostitute gauntlet (whew, made it), back to my hotel, and slept like a baby!
Went to see Ingrid and her new Grand baby. I got to read Kiana a story, and it reminded me of always reading to Wren. ALWAYS!

Called a cab and Ingrid and I went back to the airport for Kuala Lumpur.

This is a picture of my Chinese friend who showed my around Sinapore on my first trip! Singapore pays for his senior lodging, and he has to be in his apartment before the curfew, or is locked out for the night. Singapore is tough, but they have the cleanest city in the world, and they take care of their old people!
