Early Anchorage

Warm, Muggy
February 29, 2012 - We are just south of Port St. Lucie and just north of West Palm Beach. Big storm - so we decided to drop an anchor in a shallow little bay. Ocean is just a couple of hundred yards away. We anchored in pretty shallow water - 5.5 feet and we think we are now on bottom. Will need to get away before 7:00 tomorrow morning while the tide is not at its lowest point. There are about 10 other boats here and it is pretty quiet. There are some houses just down the way - I can see their lights from the boat. We will be in West palm for a couple of days - want to get our water maker serviced - that is happening Friday. We should be in West Palm Beach tomorrow - we only have about 22 miles to our anchorage. We have a marina booked for Friday.
March 1, 2012 - 4:00 a.m. As you can see by the time that it is early. We were in pretty shallow water last night - should have moved then but didn't. We sat on bottom most of the night - really bounces when you get wake from another boat. So at 4:00 Bob had a brain wave to move, so up we get, wake up the neighbours and move. First drop of the anchor puts us accross the channel, so pull it up again and re-set. Now we are up for the day to make sure that we are in deep enough water to leave. Otherwise we would have to wait until noon when it gets to be high tide again. Coffee and tea will be ready shortly. Start the day in mud - end the day in mud!!
