Early hunting for dinner.

She ambled down to the creek and started watching carefully. Finally she tried a different spot right below us. All of a sudden she simply dove into the water head first. Her hind quarters were on shore but just barely (bearly?). A few seconds later she backed out up the bank clutching her prize. This was all news for me as I thought that black bears were not salmon hunters. Wrong. And they don't live where grizzly bears are dominant, right? Wrong. Their ranges overlap and they don't need leaping fish in order to fish very well, thank you.
