PREPARATION FOR DINGHY BUTT
11 February 2012 | Fernandina FL
We left Beaufort SC with "GOD SPEED" as a buddy boat, not bad comany!
It was an uncomfortabe outside passage with 4' to 6' lumpy seas arriving from the port aft corner.
The farmer who wrote " fair winds and following seas" never got off the John Deere tractor. Following seas are not fun! They suck and poor Demi no longer weighs as much as she did.
We arrived at the MO A just before light and a day later, after hanging on a mooring for yet another day because the boat yard would not allow boats to dock as the winds were too strong, we invited Lorrie and Pat , GOD SPEED, for dinner. Brave souls or foolish kids, they went ashore in 25 to 30 knot winds in their dinghy and brought us bananas and a 12-pack of Heineikins.
Tita invited our new "best" friends for dinner which was fabulous: chicken with wine sause and mushrooms accompanied with string beans, carrots with soy, balsamic and fresh ginger and also rice. Lorrie brought strawberries and whipped cream! Rum and tonic, wine, good conversation about all the anchors we have dragged in our past, laughs with a bark or two from Demi.
Hello? does cruising get any better than this?
