My dingy with the sail rig
12 July 2010 | Crooked Lake Michigan, Mom's house
Thank you Nancy Franklin !!!
She stitched up the sail modifications for me. That was all I needed to complete the sail rig for the Walker Bay dingy "Mom's Hand". I aquired the sail from an ad for a free mast and 2 sails for a type of boat called a Blue Jay, I trimmed off about a foot and a half from the bottom, wrapped the mast to create a sleeve type set up, like the store bought Walker Bay sail.
I also ran the new outboard around on the lake too, maybe a half a tank of gas, and I adjusted the angle of the danlge on the motor to gain the best speed out of the little thing. It won't plane out but I really didn't expect it to, it does have alot of power though.
It was a great day on Crooked Lake in Petoskey, it was real hot and the lake was busy.
That was Sat. so on sunday I drug out the hose, and an
extension cord for the battery charger, it showed they were charged just fine. I connected the water to the little 3 cyl. Universal Diesel engine, hit the starter button and she took right off, as always !!!
I also got the lawn mowed in prep. for the family reunion this sat. the 17th.
then I will mow one more time on thursday and I can put that damn mower away for a long, long time!!
Today I am gonna paint the bottom with antifouling paint. A video will follow.
See ya, Dean
ps. the business closed last friday, let the adventure begin :)
