We have been waiting here for the last three weeks for a new radar to arrive. It was no way for us to go without one for the Atlantic crossing. In particular this year, with 244 sailing yachts in the Arc rally (Canary to St Lucia) and maybe another 200 going on their own. So with about 500 boats crossing between end of November and beginning December, the radar will be really welcome! This is going to be "Coconut milk Highway".

We met a very interesting character while in Playa blanca, as he was towing Banana and Flying Fish behind his jetski all day long around our boat we finished by being well acquainted. And decided to invited aboard for a drink as he was so "sympathique". He brought us two books on his life while he was a windsurf champion and for many other amazing adventure. He went for example, on his tadem board with son and dog (see picture), at 60 years of age, for a 60 miles journey which took them more than 5 hours! He also did some similar trips on his own and his longest journey was 9 hours! He tows a rope of 25 meters behind the board and twice was scared by big Orca jumping right out of the water a few meters from him. He is one of the most enthusiastic person I've ever met and he loves what he is doing. Really nice to come across people like him.

We arrived just after dark which is great because you will only discover the landscape in the morning, this always leaves you with a wonderful experience. Graciosa is a barren island with intricate design on the hills, you can get around mostly on dirt roads, so it has kept a special out of the beaten path atmosphere. The village is a quaint little place where all houses are superbly kept with sparkling white walls, the only touch of colour is on the doors, shutters and on the extraordinary fishing boats which are bright red. There is no vegetations except a few cactuses but they are decorating the streets very nicely.
The anchorage by the village of Caleta del Sebo is desolate. But the setting is grand, on one side the rolling terracotta-coloured hills of Graciosa and across the strait, Lanzarote with the gigantic cliffs which remind me of Grand Canyon.

Boat speed 5kn - Course 225 degres at 11h30. We left Gibraltar yesterday morning after buying fuel for only 50 cents Euros. We had a strong tide against us when we left, up to 4 knots which was slowing us down a lot. Then we had to motor for some time as the wind was too light. We have seen a lot of big fishing trawlers last night and hundreds of dolphins in the Strait of Gibraltar playing in the current or chasing fish. They accompanied us for some time racing with the boat until they got tired of it and rushed away. We should be arriving at that speed the 30th of September in the morning at the lovely island of Lanzarote. They are three Australians boats behind us heading for the Atlantic Islands as well, nice to know that you are not alone out there.

This is beautiful but very poor. The island of St Luzia which has been abandoned, is now deserted and there are some huge fishes waiting to be caught. Darko was delighted by the idea that they nearly throw themselves on lines and speargun, and brought by kilos of it! He is indeed an amazing fisherman.
