After spending a lovely month in the gorgeous old town of Syracusa. Mixing with the very friendly locals was something special, they taught me the traditional cuisine of the area (it was like an insult to them that I was not able to cook Sicilian, a disgrace!). We were taken around like 'Zoo's Animal' for the pleasure of our many new friends. This became like a mission as they all seems to know each other or be related, by the end of the stay we know most everyone in Syracusa and it was very amusing as very little English was spoken! Geoff was obviously very quiet for a month!

Drove around the island with Doug & Geoff, saw the lovely old town of Rabat and the film set of Popeye.

We are back from our self-driving tour of Europe which took us from Italy to France, and Germany to Switzerland. It is nice to be back on the water after nearly three months, the longest we've ever stay on land since 2000!

We came to Croatia in 1997 with our motorboat at the end of October, so we found it very different and busy. Tourist destinations tend to be a bit too incline in only taking money from you, it is all a big business there now.
But there are so many wonderful anchorages that I guess it is worth it. We only had one really unfair experience in Mali Losinj where a fine was asked to every boat being anchor near the main harbour. We did say that it was not posted anywhere and the only answer we've got was that the sign was going to be put up!
So all the vessels there were asked for their passports and had to go to the harbour master to pay the fine and get their documents back. We did complain to the police but that was the way.
Otherwise it is a rally nice place to cruise, especially the islands and national parks.
We made some lovely friends from Slovenia, Janja & Iztok onboard their boat with their children, Neza & Katarina. Without forgetting the cat and hamster. On the picture also my Aunty, Zouzou and my nevew Paul-Louis.
