Sandgerdi
11 June 2017 | Off the coast of Reykjavik, Iceland
Joni
We had baked goods from a bakery in Reykjavik for breakfast today. After breakfast, April and Alex left. We had a good sail to Sandgerdi (the second d is supposed to be an Icelandic letter, and is pronounced like the th in the, but I didn't know how to type that letter on the computer), but me and Jonas got seasick because we hadn't gotten used to the waves yet. We docked on a wall and there was a really strong wind pushing us against it. We had lunch and then the harbourmaster said that there was a pool here but that it closed at 4:00 pm and the last swim was at 3:30 pm. It was 3:10 pm and by the time we had gotten all ready, it was 3:20 pm. Jonas, Mom, Dad, and I walked quickly along the road, but we realized that we didn't know where the pool was. At 3:25 pm, we saw Dad step onto the middle of the road and wave his hands in front of a van to stop it. Then he got into the van and told us to get in because the driver had agreed to take us to the pool. There were only 3 seats and the driver sat in 1 of them, so Jonas sat on Dad's lap and I sat on Mom's lap. It was really good that dad had done that, because the pool was farther than we thought and we had had no idea where it was. We got out of the truck and sprinted to the change rooms just in time, with 1 minute to spare. The pool was really fun. There were waterslides and the pool was just the right temperature. After we got out, we went to the school playground. It had a zip line, and we played there until dinner.
