We did school and then went on a hiking trail to the top of a volcano called Fire Mountain. Dad and Grandpa had to turn around halfway because Grandpa got too tired, so only me, Mom, and Jonas went to the top. It was cool because there were hot spots in small caves in the rock at the top. We had brought sandwiches wrapped in tinfoil and we buried them in the hot spots. When we dug them up, the cheese had melted and the sandwich was warm. Apparently, it was the youngest volcano in the world. We had heard it was National Day, which was like Canada Day but for Iceland, so when we got back we went to the celebration. It was in a field near the playground and there was people singing and making speeches. It was fun. For dinner, we went with our Icelandic friends for dinner at a place called Fiskibarrin. I had lamb that was grown on the mountain that we had climbed the other day.
