We sailed to Cartagena, and for once arrived in the afternoon instead of at night. There was an old Roman amphitheatre there, so we went to see it. It was very cool. There were the remains of old columns and the seating area was more or less intact, but the stage had been redone. People had been building houses on top of it and only 20 years ago did people realize that there was something there and dig down to uncover the amphitheatre. Then we went to an underwater archaeology museum. We learned that underwater archeologists retrieve artifacts from shipwrecks. We even saw an elephant tusk that had been found underwater. There were old coins that divers found on the bottom of the ocean and you could see how things properly treated looked good, but if they weren’t properly treated, they cracked or rusted. Then we went out for dinner and ate artichokes, croquettas (mashed potato fritters), cod, and beef. The next day, we sailed to Altea and today, we sailed to the Balearic Islands, a Spanish archipelago off the coast of Spain. On the way, we caught a tuna and ate it for dinner.
