Leonidio
08 January 2018 | Lionidion, Peloponnesus, Greece
Joni
After Astros, we sailed to Leonidio. The town of Leonidio was four km inland, but there was a village with only five buildings right next to the harbour. The next morning, it was epiphany, which is a Christian holiday commemorating the baptizing of Jesus Christ. In Greece, the priests throw the cross in the water and people try to get it off the bottom. Whoever retrieves the cross gets good luck for the year and lets people kiss the cross. It was done in the harbour where we were docked and it was cool to watch. Then we rode our bikes to town. Sirius did Wizard-of-Oz style by riding in a basket at the front of Dad's bike. Everything was closed since it was epiphany, so we rode around town and biked back.
We wanted to start heading to Athens, since we were picking up Grandma and Grandpa there, so we went back to Hydra. We were all looking forward to going back.
