I went to Big Sky Cyclery here in Helena. Mike (pictured) was very helpful--beyond the call of duty--so that I got another biggish problem solved: my heels were hitting the rear panniers unless I tipped my feet just so.
I told Mike I was setting out on an open-ended trek, and he said he hopes to do the same some day. I really hope my humble example and this blog help to give him and many others the courage to do what they really want to do in life.
