Adventures aboard Great Adventure
Waiting on Home Depot

I ordered some cherry plywood so I could re-do the master stateroom on board Great Adventure about a month ago. Seems it's been stuck in Louisiana for most of that time. I would really like to get this project underway.

Art Schuck aboard s/v Ok Fine is enroute to Isla Mujeres and I am to join him there for the trip down to Rio Dulce. Really looking forward to some warm sunny sailing!

Rain and wind
Bob, clear and 45 degrees

Well, so much for our warm weather. Our plans to do the port side stanchions turned into a painting day at home. A cold front brought high winds and heavy rain throughout most of the day. Tonight is supposed to go down to 28. Brrr, this is Florida, but it isn't that unusual for Pensacola this time of year. We'll try again tomorrow, it is supposed to be clear and 57 and also check on how the starboard side did in all that rain we had, hopefully still dry!

It's been an unusually warm winter so far, but February is just around the corner. Sharon and I have been busy with life events including visiting all three of our children and five grandchildren over the holidays. Now we are taking advantage of the warm weather and making some repairs aboard Great Adventure. Friday we replaced the pushpit that has been repaired. Saturday we removed all the stanchions along the starboard rail and rebed them with butyl tape instead of all that sticky silicone goop. We'll see how this holds up, but hopefully we will be drip free. We plan doing the port side on Wednesday, weather depending. We are getting estimates for replacing our aging autopilot and upgrading our electronics. My slip neighbor is sailing for Rio Dulce, Guatemala soon and I will be joining him in Isla Mujeres to crew for him for the remainder of the trip.
