After leaving Savanah, GA yesterday afternoon, we had an uneventful night of motor sailing. The wind was quite light so we put the new port sail drive to the test. After a wonderful evening meal of chicken stir-fry with brown rice, we settled down for the night, each of us taking turns sleeping and on watch. The morning came with the wind directly aft, cloudy skies, but warm temperatures. The boat is currently sailing wing on wing (genoa on port side and staysail on starboard) with the wind blowing about 23-25 and the boat holding steady at 10-12 and surfing down the waves at 15. The smell of popcorn fills the cabin and a movie is about to start for our entertainment. The Coast Guard was on the VHF this morning telling boats about a pod of right whales that were in the area. We are keeping a keen eye out for these huge animals but in the meantime, a pod of dolphins delighted us with their presence jumping and swimming.
