DAY 15 - 4000 MILES DOWN!

DAY 15
My longest ever passage and B and I now travelled 4000 miles since we left Largs in June. It's the home straight and we have GOT to complete it...all hands on deck....
But inevitably the worst (?) happened and we couldn't get the twirler part down from on the top of the genoa stay. Either we did without the genoa or...someone would have to go up the mast and free it. In 20knot winds and a big sea swell...Peter volunteered. I have never been so scared in my life and reckon it was the bravest thing I've seen. Within an hour we had the sail back up and back on 9knts track!!!! A miracle and once again thanks thanks thanks be to God. Hope I said thanks enough.
Then had a brilliant fast sail in glorious sunshine complete with sublime smoked salmon and scrambled eggs...generator switched itself off just to remind us that at no time is anything ever perfect on this boat but it was a cheery afternoon with big boy showers and scones (thank you, Ailsa!) all round. Topped off with a proper Sunday dinner of chicken, bread sauce, gratin dauphinois and petits pois.
Sensational super moon guiding us tonight as we start our new watch system - I get Andy and Peter to buddy with. Dying to see how we all rub along..I think it could help relationships...?
