Here we are anchored under the Great Piton in the national park in St Lucia. It is quite spectacular, not only physically, but when the wind whooshes down the side of the mountain it blows everything off the boat! We have had a super week with David and Lise. Fun time in Rodney Bay, interesting time watching 3 cruise ships maneuver in a small harbor in Castries, but worth it for the education and the delicious dinner at Jacques Restaurant. We then pushed on to the Pitons early in the am to make sure to get a mooring in the Park, which we did right up by the Jalousie Hotel. The snorkeling here is spectacular. Bright, colored fish and beautiful marine life that has been protected so it is very much alive. I've never seen a floourescent blue fish before! Two nice boys bought us a fresh tuna that they had just caught, so dinner was a no brainer, but that would be after a lunch trip to the Laverie resort and Dasheen restaurant. The restaurant is high on the hill with a sp ectacular view of both Pitons from on high. Too bad the food didn't match the view, but you can't have everything! Lise has learned to make T-punches now, so that is our new favorite drink which also cures indigestion from lunch! Today we went way up into the rain forest (19,000 acres of it)for a 4 mile hike/walk. Great vegetation and a wonderful guide who just scratched the surface pointing out the 19 different species of ferns that live there. Back on the boat for swims and naps, tough day!
