We launched the boat on Monday, January 21 and all went well. The last couple of days have been busy as we are provisioning the boat and are having a few things repaired while we are here. We found Costco here and stocked up on a few actually quite a few provisions. The weather has been sunny with the usual daily shower which causes a mad scramble on the boat as we close windows and hatches. When it rains here it really rains and is more like a downpour. Last night we were missing our usual Friday night pub dinner with our friends back home so we went to Lolly's Bar and Grill here at the Marina. We feasted on tapas and wine. It turns out the rigger working on our boat was there and his wife is the manager of the restaurant. Consequently we were treated like royalty. They ordered for us as we could not read Spanish. They insisted we try the soup because they thought it was cold out - it probably was 26 degrees. A little storm passed through late yesterday afternoon and the temperature dropped a bit but not much in our minds. It was quite pleasant. To our delight there was a local band scheduled to play at the restaurant. We ended up staying until they finished playing because the band was so great. The singer sang mostly in Spanish but with the odd English mixed in - sometimes switching back and forth at random. It was explained to us that their style of music was a type of reggae from the Dominican Republic. They played music like Santana and did actually play some Santana songs. The Puerto Ricans were dancing and singing along as they seemed to know a lot of the songs. It has taken a few days to get our email up and running and low and behold it is now a week later. We are hoping to leave tomorrow for the Spanish Virgin Islands.
