First Anchorage This Trip
02 October 2015 | San Bernard River, TX
Beverly/sunny and cooler
Today we opted to anchor in the San Bernard River. Along the way we went through the Caney Creek pontoon bridge. It took us 8 hours to cover about 37 miles since we had wind and current slowing us down. We also kept finding stowaway crickets and throwing them overboard. The wind is forecast to be much lighter tomorrow, which will be better for us when we transit the Brazos River floodgates. Due to wind direction we chose to go north about 2 miles on the river and are anchored in the opening of a small oxbow. It's quiet, although occasionally fishing boats come by. As we cruised upstream we passed a flock of roseate spoonbills resting in the mudflats. Beautiful!
